About the Dangerous Mezzo

I’m Nina Scott-Stoddart, and this is the website for my production company. Dangerous Mezzo Productions is an umbrella organization under which I pursue my professional interests in singing, directing and producing opera.
This site has information about the company and my work, and particularly about a new one woman show I’m developing called “Confessions of a Mezzo”.
I’m an opera singer, director and producer. I co founded Toronto’s Opera Anonymous in 1994, which produced over twenty shows in its eight years of operation. When I moved to Nova Scotia in 2002 I founded Maritime Concert Opera which has presented five fuly staged operas since 2004. I also started the Halifax Summer Opera Workshop in 2005.
I’ve worked as Artistic Producer for Opera Nova Scotia’s annual Opera Valentine since 2005.
I’ve directed opera for Opera Anonymous, New Opera Concerts in Toronto, Pro Voce Opera Workshop in Toronto, Halifax Summer Opera Workshop and Dalhousie University. Among my directing credits are Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Seymour Barab’s Mushroom Pizza, Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Cosi fan tutte, Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge, and The Consul, The Telephone and The Old Maid and the Thief by Gian Carlo Menotti.
I look forward to directing Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld for Dalhousie University this year and to directing Verdi’s La traviata next summer for HSOW.
